A Thank You from the 2010 Team/files/Pictures/Missions/Honduras2.JPG

The Honduras mission team would like to express a huge thank you to MGEFC for all the help with finances, prayers, garage sale, the taco meal and silent auction, the wreath fundraiser, the various other fund-raisers, taking us to and from the airport, helping with the VBS preparations, and a huge thank you to all the kids and adults who made the Bags of Love that were so very appreciated by the Honduran people! We definitely felt that we were an extension of MGEFC in Choluteca! We were incredibly blessed to be a part of 25 people praying to receive Christ in home-to-home evangelism, 120 children attending VBS in two locations, painting inside the malnutrition clinic, helping the women at Casa Hogar Vida organize their crafts (and purchasing many of them too!), /files/Pictures/Missions/Honduras.JPGdistributing many needed school backpacks and bags of love (pictured on lower right), worshipping with and fellowshipping with our forever family at GCLA Choluteca Church, bonding with many new and prior friends, young and old, getting a private tour of a huge cantalope farm, swimming at the beach our last day, and much more! We praise God that we were able to donate the needed finances from funds that were raised to allow the church there to purchase and install the needed glass door and entrance to the church's new addition (pictured on top right). MUCHAS GRACIAS!!!

About the Mission Field

The Honduran people are in need of God's love and support. In 1998, while combating extreme poverty, the needs there reached a heightened level of urgency when Hurricane Mitch devastated many areas of the country. Because of these needs, MGEFC has partnered with the Great Commission Church in Choluteca, Honduras and for the last four years mission teams from MGEFC have been blessed with opportunities to help many families with medical, financial, emotional, and spiritual assistance. While working with the GCC the mission team was able to reach many children and young people and act as the hands and feet of Jesus as they loved and shared the gospel.

The teams sent are also partnered with Casa Hogar Vida, a ministry that is devoted to families who are afflicted with HIV/AIDS and children who have lost family members to the disease. Recently teams finished construction of two new homes at Casa Hogar Vida and also helped move the first two families in. Through this work, the teams were blessed by the receiving families as they shared how their faith in the Lord has changed their lives. Future teams will be assisting with many building/maintenance projects at Casa Hogar Vida, as well as helping with the orphanage that is currently under construction. Future teams will also help with evangelism outreach through the Great Commission Church (GCC) in Choluteca and the surrounding areas. This includes ministering/evangelizing to malnourished children and supporting a local daycare for parents who are employed by the tortilla factory and bakery.
